Breanna Datto

Breanna Datto is the daughter of Cherri Datto. She will be a senior at Dollar Bay High School this fall where she is an honor roll students and has maintained a 4.0 GPA since 5th grade. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was a silver medalist at the HOSA State competition in Traverse City for health careers.
Breanna has done volunteer work helping at spaghetti dinners with her church, mowing lawns for her family, and walking dogs at the Humane Society.
Breanna loves performing. She has been dancing with the Superior School of Dance since she was 4 years old and also really loves to sing and paint. Music and art are both big passions for Breanna. She would like to have a job as a lifeguard one day because she loves the water. She loves to paddle board on the canal with her cousins and hopes to learn to surf one day.
Breanna works at EconoFoods as a cashier and her future plans include pursuing a career in pediatric medicine or chiropractic. She wants to eventually marry and have children when she is financially stable.

Kate Desrochers

Mary Katherine Desrochers is the daughter of James and MaryFran Desrochers. She graduated in May 2020 as valedictorian from Houghton High School where she was very active in many different organizations. She was the treasurer and Projects and Preferred Charities District Chair for Key Club. She served as the secretary in the National Honor Society and was captain of the Quiz Bowl Team for two years. She was captain of the swim team, a member of the Environmental Club, and received the Mathematics Department Award and the Foreign Language Department Award.
Kate was a 4 time Michigan state finalist for National History Day, and a 3 time national finalist, presenting her National History Day projects in Washington DC 3 years in a row.
Kate has done volunteer work for GirlUp and Michigan Tech MindTrekkers. She was also a camp counselor at Camp Nesbit for 6th graders.
Kate likes to bake and decorate cakes, walk her energetic dog, go on adventures throughout the Keweenaw, travel (she got to study abroad in Spain last summer), and read books.
Kate will attend St. Olaf College in the fall with plans to study neuroscience and Spanish. She hopes to become a professor in the future.

Sierrah Driscoll

Sierrah Renee Driscoll is the daughter of Tim and Vicky Driscoll. She will graduate from Hancock Central High School in 2022 where she is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in the Publications Club and the Spirit Committee. Sierrah has been on the straight-A honor roll and was chosen to represent HCH for Student Leadership Program.
Sierrah is a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Sierrah is an all state varsity cross country athlete, and plays on the varsity golf team, varsity basketball team, and the JV volleyball team. She is also a 3-year AAU basketball athlete. She enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her dogs and especially loves days on the lake.
Sierrah works at Dairy Queen in Houghton and plans to pursue a college education in Biomedical Engineering.

Carly Goddard

Carly is the daughter of Gary and PollySue Goddard. She graduated as her class salutatorian from Chassell High School in 2019 where she was part of the National Honor Society, played on the quiz bowl team, and was her class secretary. She also played basketball and volleyball (First Team All Conference 2019), and golf during high school.
Carly volunteers for her church by helping to clean it a few times each year.
She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, traveling, working out, watching tv, going to the beach, hiking, going to church, and playing beach volleyball and spike ball.
Carly works for McDonald’s in Houghton and as a housekeeper for Country Inn & Suites. She recently was accepted into the radiography program at NMU and will be attending Northern in the fall to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Allied Health. After she completes the program she will take the national registry examination to become a licensed radiologic technologist.

Giavanna Guidotti

Giavanna Joy Harris-Guidotti is the daughter of Amber Guidotti and Luwayne Harris. She is a 2020 graduate of Hancock Central High School where she served on the prom and yearbook committees, played basketball, and was on the honor roll for all four years of her high school career.
Gia has volunteered at the Bluffs decorating cookies with the residents at Christmas. She has also participated in can drives throughout high school and walked dogs at the humane society.
Gia loves taking pictures, whether she is behind the camera or in front of it. She also enjoys drawing, driving around town with her friends listening to music, and writing. She plans to minor in writing in college this fall.
Gia is a front desk clerk at the Vault hotel in downtown Houghton and will attend Michigan Tech this fall to get her Bachelor’s Degree in communications culture and media. She hopes to become a public relations specialist.

Libby Kyro

Libby Kyro is the daughter of Frank Kyro and Katie Williamson. She graduated with honors from Chassell High School in 2019 where she was involved with the Quiz Bowl team, the National Honor Society, student council, and was her class treasurer. In 2017, she placed 5th in the state of Michigan in the Voice of Democracy essay competition. She also placed 2nd in a photography competition for Nurses Aide in 2019.
Libby has spent many hours volunteering for her community doing things like cleaning Chassell sidewalks, helping with spaghetti dinners at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, setting up and running carnival stands at Evangel Community Church, and cleaning up Chassell Centennial park and Chassell Cemetery. She also volunteered to help with flood relief in 2018.
Libby enjoys photography, baking, playing volleyball, spending time with family and friends, traveling, cutting and styling hair, listening to music, and drinking good coffee.
Libby works at Dairy Queen in Houghton and her future plans include taking a year or two off of school to focus on work and travel. When she is ready for college she wants to study cosmetology, business, and/or culinary arts. She has always wanted to open her own coffee shop and bakery and plans to do that after college.

Maria Lorenzetti

Maria Rose Lorenzetti is the daughter of Joan Tapani and Michael Lorenzetti. Maria graduated from Jeffers High School in May of 2020 where she played basketball and club soccer, earning first team goalie honor her sophomore year.
Maria worked a co-op job during her senior year at The Bluffs where she assisted and led activities. This was a great chance for her to interact with the residents and spend time talking to them. She continued working the co-op in addition to her regular work at the Bluffs during Covid-19.
Throughout high school, Maria participated in basketball, golf, volleyball, and soccer. She attended her school’s sporting events and was named Homecoming Queen her senior year. Sports have always been a part of her life and have kept her very busy.
Maria loves to travel, especially taking road trips with her friends and vacations with her grandmother. She loves country music, cowboy boots, and trucks.
Maria works at the Bluffs as a dining assistant and at the Copper Country Crematory as the assistant manager. She plans to take a year off from school to continue working and enroll in college in Fall of 2021.

Kenna McKay

McKenna McKay is the daughter of Randy McKay and Amy Chapin. She is a 2020 graduate of Houghton High School where she participated in the Houghton High School spirit squad and Pep Club.
Kenna volunteered her time taking Houghton Varsity Hockey stats every winter from 2017-2020, spending at least two nights a week in an arena. She traveled to all of the away games, including downstate games. She has also volunteered with Little Brothers at Christmas, bringing gifts to people around the community. She was involved with the Nurse’s Aide Course this past year, which gave her the opportunity to help with crafts and visit with residents at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. She worked at the Bluffs and enjoyed spending her free time visiting with residents and helping them with anything they needed assistance with—sometimes even giving them rides to the grocery store.
Kenna enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, baking, and painting. She played volleyball, cheered for the HHS Spirit Squad, and earned varsity letters for being on the gymnastics, golf, and softball teams during her time at Houghton High.
McKenna works as a room attendant and laundry attendant at the Vault hotel in Houghton. She plans to attend Ferris State University in the fall to pursue a career in dental hygiene.

Alia Palosaari

Alia is the daughter of Tim and Kelly Palosaari. She will be a senior at Chassell High School this fall where she is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in the early college program with Gogebic. She has been on the A or A/B honor roll every semester since her 7th grade year.
Alia was involved with 4H for 10 years where she raised market animals. She volunteers each summer in the Chassell Schools Booster Club food truck and also volunteers with the Timber Trails Riding Club. She has been very involved with the VFW’s Adopt-a-Highway program and has played taps at the VFW’s Memorial Day services for the past four years.
Alia plays softball, volleyball, and basketball for Chassell High School and is first chair trumpet in band. She enjoys spending time outside riding horses or doing projects around her family farm. She loves learning how to do new things from knitting/crochet to longboarding and anything else that piques her interest. Alia especially cherishes spending quality time with her friends and family and making others laugh.
Alia works for Dairy Queen in Houghton and her future plans include finishing the early college program through Gogebic Community College with an associate’s degree in general education.

Annika Seigel

Annika Seigel is the daughter of Matt and Marika Seigel. She will graduate from Houghton High School in 2021, where she is a member of JSA (Junior Statesmen of America), Equality Club, Key Club, Drama Club, National Honor Society, and Creative Writing Club. Her GPA is currently 3.98 and she has been on the honor roll throughout her high school career. She has served as Vice President of Houghton’s JSA chapter, secretary of the Equality Club, and is on the Key Club board as the representative to the Copper Country Humane Society. For the upcoming 2020-21 school year, she will serve as president of the Houghton JSA chapter and vice president of NHS.
Through her involvement in Key Club and NHS, Ani has volunteered for numerous local non-profits, such as the Copper Country Humane Society and Little Brothers. She has also volunteered as a day camp counselor at the Copper Country Art Center and has often played music to benefit local charities.
Ani’s biggest special interest is music. She takes voice, piano, and guitar lessons, works in a music store, teaches ukulele lessons to kids, has been in choir since 4th grade, and is a singer-songwriter. She is part of a folk duo called Ani & Kora which has performed at music festivals across Michigan and recently released a full-length album. Last summer, she performed at a folk festival in Viljandi, Estonia.
Ani works at Good Times Music in Houghton and hopes to attend the University of Michigan where she plans to major in either English, Political Science, or pre-law. She will then go on to law school.

Aubrey Swain

Aubrey Swain is the daughter of Michelle and Jason Swain. She will graduate from Dollar Bay High School in 2021 where she is a member of the National Honor Society, co-founded the Dollar Bay Environmental Club, and participates in the Dollar Bay SOAR program (marine robotics enterprise).
Volunteer work Aubrey has done includes helping with the VFW veterans and first responders appreciation picnic and volunteering at Canal View. She also coordinated with a military museum to display at her school for their Veteran’s Day program.
Aubrey plays volleyball, is a cheerleader, and runs track. She loves spending time with her friends and family.
She plans to go to the University of Michigan to study oncology.
